Mesa Arts Our School
Mesa Arts Academy is a free Charter School that integrates the Arts into a rigorous academic curriculum. A high quality alternative for kindergarten through eighth grade students, Mesa Arts Academy offers studies in Reading, Math, Social Studies, Science, Drama, Dance, Music and the Visual Arts. With more than 215 students, Mesa Arts Academy provides quality educational and arts-based programs for primary and intermediate grade levels.
In an effort to alleviate over crowding in Mesa Public Schools, Mesa Arts Academy was established in 1995. The Charter School was formed as a partership between Mesa School District and the Boys & Girls Clubs of the East Valley. In its first year, Mesa Arts Academy offered classes to 5th and 6th grade students. Within three years, the charter school was serving Kindergarten through 8th grade students.
The Academy shares the campus of the East Valley Mesa Boys and Girls Club – Grant Woods Branch. Homerooms are housed in five portable buildings. In addition, our students access the club building during the day for special classes. Special rooms include: two gymnasiums, dance room, multi-media computer lab, and art studio.
Mesa Arts Academy provides a "positive school climate" for all of its students. We treat each student with respect and guide our students in the discovery and development of their individual talents. Classes are open to all interested youth, regardless of race, creed, disability or financial status. Students are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. There are waiting lists for most classes.
Mesa Arts Academy employs only Arizona Certified teachers for its academic program. Professionals in the fields of the arts and technology provide exciting additional opportunities for our students. Each teacher also has a part-time academic aide to assist students in reaching their goals.
