Electives & Activities

After School Musical

Every year 4th through 8th grade students have the opportunity to audition for the After School Musical.  Students who are selected to perform in the show will rehearse two days a week after regular school hours.  For the performance itself the students have the opportunity to perform in one of the state of the art theatres at the Mesa Arts Center.  Some of our past productions have been Alice In Wonderland, Honk!, Once Upon a Mattress, and Once On This Island.

This year we are proud to present our production of Schoolhouse Rock Live! On Tuesday January 12th at 6pm in the Nesbit Elliot Playhouse at the Mesa Arts Center

Elective Performances
Twice a year our 5th -8th grade students who are in performance based elective classes present a production to showcase their growing talents.  It is mandatory that all students in these classes participate in their performance

Kindergarten – 4th Grade Performances
Twice a year our Kindergarten – 4th grade students create a musical production for their parents.  In these productions our students sing, dance, and act demonstrating their progression of skills throughout the year.  For many students it is their favorite activity of the year and one of the many chances that we give them to hear themselves applauded.

Mesa Arts Academy Art Show
Each year we proudly display our students’ artwork for parents and community members to enjoy.  This art show features work from all different levels at the school, and is produced in conjunction with the spring Kindergarten – 4th grade performance.

Extracurricular Performances
Quite often we provide our students the opportunity to perform at events outside of school.  Our students have been featured at events like the Boys & Girls Clubs of the East Valley Bids for Kids Event, as well as the Youth of the Year Event.  Additionally our students have performed at the Week Without Violence and their artwork has been submitted to both state and county fairs.

Are you interested in having our students perform at your event?
